Carthage
Academic Services, Inc. is founded by a
Tunisian group of academics and scholars
dedicated to the enhancement of cross cultural
learning and exchange.
Because of the founders’intellectual
and cultural background, the organization’s
preferred, though by no means restricted,
audiences are students and adult learners
from the Western and Arab Islamic worlds.
Also, the founders’ particular focus
on these two great world cultures stems
from the sad observation that they have
often been historically at variance if not
in open conflict.
Today, it is no exaggeration to say that
mistrust and misunderstanding run so deep
that the very idea of dialogue seems to
have become difficult even to envisage.
This breakdown of communication, due to
accumulated misapprehension from both sides,
has become one of the many factors that
are threatening world peace.
And as mutual suspicion and hostility deepen
— exacerbated by certain imprudent
policies and certain mass media— dialogue
and the ongoing exchange of ideas and people
appear to be the surest means to restore
confidence, rebuild the channels of communication,
and establish lasting relations of trust
and understanding.
Finally, Carthage Academic Services believes
that the fair distribution of the fruits
of the global information and communication
technology revolution depends to a large
extent on the cultivation and enhancement
of the dialogue between East and West; and
all of CASE activities and aspirations tend
towards the realization of this objective. |
